Our District includes the Eastern part of the Lake District National Park (the Lake District), the North-Western part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park (the ‘Westmorland Dales’, including the Howgills), and a large part of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (Cross Fell - the highest Pennine summit; and a stretch of the Pennine Way).
In consequence, we get a lot of Scout visitors, either camping in the District or carrying out expeditions - both ‘ordinary’ Scout ones, and as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
We are happy to try to help with information, and to visit camps etc - but we do need to know that you are coming. When you notify your Home District Commissioner of your plans, it is helpful to copy us in. On those rare occasions when something goes wrong - or you need help - it is much easier for us if we already know that you are here! And please remember that this applies if you are using indoor accommodation too - whether hostel or Scout hut. So ... if in doubt, just use Contact Us.
